Fun times in Utah

Hannah was so fun to play with. Although I think she may have only liked me for the packet of gum she "borrowed" from me. Although she was nice enough to share her already chewed pieces that she kindly put back into my purse!

Kayla and Brooke have grown up so much!

Grandma

When I went back to Utah for Christmas I got to spend a little time with Grandma. She looks pretty good but I swear she has shrunk about a foot!

Carving pumpkins

Before Halloween we spent an evening carving pumpkins. Brooke had so much fun carving hers that she took over Mikes too. I decided to do something different and carved a witch. It was fun and we even cooked the seeds in my toaster over (since I still don't have a stove). We tried a couple different recipes.
My favorite: spray the pan with cooking spray then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and bake until light brown.
Mike's favorite: spray pan and sprinkle seeds with garlic salt and bake until light brown.

California

the beach at Chicago

Last weekend we went to an arts festival near Chicago then went to the beach. It was a little windy and a little cold so we didn't get totally in the water but Brooke and I did get our feet week. Brooke pretty much went all in by the end of the trip.

Chicago

We went to Colorado last weekend for a friends wedding and stayed in Chicago the night before we flew out. We got to experience a little Chicago and it was so much fun. We walked around Navy Pier, rode the famous ferris wheel, took a cruise and ate traditional Chicago pizza. It was so fun and it was great to see some nightlife in Chicago. It was even a first for Mike. It's crazy how you can live so close to somewhere and never go visit it.

This is my downstairs living room/kitchen. Notice the dark green wall by the stairs and the light green on the back wall in the kitchen. I was very excited to actually be able to pick out colors. The other is my second bedroom/office upstairs.
