Bryson's arrival!

I had a friend take some pictures at the hospital and finally got a copy from her. She is just like me and doesn't want to hand over any photos until she edits them but I convinced her to give them to me after 2 months! I love this photo: it's our family.

First Halloween!

Originally we were all going to dress up for Halloween and go trick or treating but then we didn't think we would get Brooke so I didn't plan anything. The week of Halloween Brooke said she wanted to be with us so we had to scramble for costumes. We shopped around and couldn't find anything for us and ended up running to Kohls to Bryson the day of Halloween. Talk about waiting to the last minute. I found the most adorable costume and it was on a great sale too! We went out and had a good time. Bryson got tons of comments as he slept on my arm as I carried him the whole time! Brooke got mad amounts of candy, and was so excited to organize it when we got home. She has had free reign on her candy (after a good lunch and eats all her dinner of course) and she hasn't even made a dent in it. Crazy kid, because I am sure that's why I don't have any teeth anymore!

Mom saves the day!

After I had Bryson mom came to Illinois for a week to help with Bryson. It was so nice to have her here and have her to help with my million questions, cook, clean, take care of Bryson, and just to talk to. Mike's family is all here so it was nice to have someone from my family get to meet wonderful Bryson. She has an amazing touch (I can imagine that having 6 kids might have something to do with it!) She always was able to calm Bryson down when I couldn't. I know I have a couple more pictures of them but I think they are in my other camera.

Bryson Charles born Oct. 2 at 7:35 pm

On October 1st(my actual due date) I started having what I thought might be really bad gas pains. It didn't seem like contractions(or at least what I thought they would feel like) but they were coming about every 2 minutes and lasted from 30 seconds to a minute. After calling the hospital and having them tell me to go in we determined they were contractions. I got to the hospital and they took me right up. As we were waiting for the doctor to come in my water broke, verifying that is wasn't gas pains but it was in fact, contractions. The immediately started me on an antibiotic because I was positive for strepie(sp?) I was only dilated to a 1 so I couldn't get an epi yet but I could have pain medicine. I tried to go as long as I could without the pain medicine. I tried bouncing on the ball, walking and even soaking in the jacuzzi, but finally I had to give in to the pain medicine. I worked for about 45 minutes then I was counting every second until I could get my epi. Finally at 5:15 they called the anesthesiologist and she finally got there at 5:30 and gave me my epidural. Let me tell you when the pain was that bad I was counting every second so 15 minutes doesn't seem like a lot but it was! We thought things would progress pretty fast after that but not sooo much. That morning I was starting to get hungry because I hadn't eaten since dinner and it wasn't much at that. I got to enjoy some jello and broth! Not soon after they started me on pitossin(sp?) because my contractions had slowed way down from the epi. It made me nauseous so they gave me some medicine for the nausea. After about 20 hours in the "birthing room" they started to talk about a C-section if things didn't progress faster. Essentially they wouldn't be able to go any higher on the pitossin and if I didn't deliver by that point I would have to go into surgery. Yikes! I got a bit scared at that point. But about an hour later they checked me and said I was good to start pushing. I pushed for an hour and my little "toddler" came out. Bryson Charles was born at 7:35 pm healthy and big! He didn't get weighed until about 10pm but he came in at a whopping 10lbs!!!!! We spent 2 days in the hospital and made our way home.

Fun times in Utah

Hannah was so fun to play with. Although I think she may have only liked me for the packet of gum she "borrowed" from me. Although she was nice enough to share her already chewed pieces that she kindly put back into my purse!

Kayla and Brooke have grown up so much!

Isn't Hannah adorable? And she looks just like Brit did at her age.

When I went back to Utah for Christmas I got to spend a little time with Grandma. She looks pretty good but I swear she has shrunk about a foot!

Carving pumpkins

Before Halloween we spent an evening carving pumpkins. Brooke had so much fun carving hers that she took over Mikes too. I decided to do something different and carved a witch. It was fun and we even cooked the seeds in my toaster over (since I still don't have a stove). We tried a couple different recipes.
My favorite: spray the pan with cooking spray then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and bake until light brown.
Mike's favorite: spray pan and sprinkle seeds with garlic salt and bake until light brown.
